Christine Sharp, Kirkland WA Oil/Watercolor Artist
"Sharp's use of oils is bold and emotive. The paintings have an inner glow that's sensual and hypnotic..." That's what art critics and gallery owners say about Christine Sharp's work.
Christine is a renaissance woman, having reinvented herself several times. So far she's thrived as a nurse/family therapist, college teacher/researcher, entrepreneur, documentary writer and producer for CNN. Following a brush with death, Sharp put down pen and camera and picked up the brush.
Christine is an artist, web designer, regular contributor to Artist Magazine and founder of the Kirkland Artist Studio Tour held every Mother's Day weekend.
Teresa Hettick, Des Moines WA Teresa DeLeen Jewelry
We are excited to introduce jewelry artist Teresa Hettick..."pretty things made from recycled and reclaimed materials."
Teresa’s favorite materials are those that are from reclaimed, recycled or reused items. She loves the nostalgia of vintage materials and the urban edge of oxidized metal.
Teresa's collection of letter pendants created from recycled vintage typewriter keys or Precious Metal Clay (PMC) is outstanding.
PMC is a clay-like medium, consisting of very small particles of silver mixed with an organic binder and water, which can be shaped just like any soft clay by hand or using molds. After drying and sanding, it is fired in a kiln. The binder burns away, leaving .999 pure silver. The piece is then antiqued to bring out the texture, tumbled all night to strengthen the metal and, “Voilà”.
