Musings Artist Inspired began as a "do you think we can do it" concept discussed between the two owners, Marcia Beck and Leigh Anne Weller. As fellow artists and friends for the past 12 years, they had just made changes in their lives and were open for new opportunities. Since both were eager to carry on with their individual art, they thought what better way than to open a store bringing together other artists and giving the public a unique place to find handcrafted works of art year round. Thus, Musings Artist Inspired was born.
Leigh Anne has been a soft sculpture artist for 26 years. She began sewing when she lived in Anchorage, Alaska just for something to do. What started as a hobby to harness her creative energy evolved into an independent business called Creations in Time. For the past 13 years, Leigh Anne has not only sold her own art but has worked with fellow artists assisting them in creatively displaying their work so that their many talents could be shared with the public. Leigh Anne has been married to her husband John for 42 years and has three talented sons who have started their own families, Shane and Lori; Justen; and Toby, Michelle and 2 daughters, Isabelle and Abigail.
Marcia has had a passion for jewelry for as long as she can remember. As a little girl growing up on the Oregon coast, she would play for hours in her grandmother's jewelry box, which was full of pearls and rhinestones, and as a teenager she would pound wire to make her own earrings. After graduating from high school, she left the hammer and wire at home and pursued a career in the legal field. After working as a legal assistant for 18+ years, she yearned once again for a creative outlet and decided to pursue her interest in jewelry. After attending numerous day and evening classes, her passion became a business, Impulse! was started in 1996, and Marcia has been selling her jewelry ever since. Marcia has been married to her husband Jim for 32 years and has two incredible daughters, Katrina, who was recently married and now lives in Bellingham, and Megan, a junior at Western Washington University in Bellingham, majoring in education.
Leigh Anne and Marcia each bring their unique talents to Musings Artist Inspired and wouldn't dream of jumping into this exciting venture without each other. They know full well that owning and operating a store is a lot of hard work but also know that at the day's end, the camaraderie, commitment and support between Musings, the artists and the community is extremely rewarding for everyone involved.
